Prof. dr hab. n. med. Mariusz Chabowski
Since 2019 Mariusz Chabowski has been Head of the Department of Surgery of the 4th Military Teaching Hospital in Wroclaw, Poland (www.4wsk.pl). In 1998-2009 he worked as assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, National Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases Research Institute, Warsaw, Poland (www.igichp.edu.pl). Since 2014 till 2023 he has been working as associate professor at Wroclaw Medical University, Faculty of Health Science (www.umed.edu.pl). Since 2013 he has been working as associate professor of the Department of Clinical Surgical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (www.pwr.edu.pl).
In 1994 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Wroclaw Medical University. He completed his residency in thoracic surgery in 2001, and in general surgery in 2016. In 2000 he wrote his doctoral thesis titled: The evaluation of the results of the surgical treatment of the patients in stage IIIA (N2 disease) non-small cell lung cancer as well as the influence of the postoperative thoracic radiotherapy and the predictive factors. His tutor was Professor Tadeusz M.Orlowski. In 2019 he completed his tenure track – a series of 4 publications entitled: Analysis of selected factors affecting quality of life and mental health in patients treated for lung cancer.
He is author and co-author of 137 scientific papers (according to PubMed). His impact factor score is 295, his number of citations – 1193 (according to Scopus), and his Hirsch index 17. He is reviewer and member of Scientific Boards of many medical journals.
He is a General Secretary of Polish Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (PTKT) since 2023. He is an active member of European Respiratory Society (ERS), European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). His fields of interest are: surgery, oncology, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, quality of life.
